Installation
Pick the right Settings Saver jar for your loader and Minecraft version, install it, and check that the mod is running.
On this page
By the end of this guide Settings Saver is installed in an instance and its button shows up in the Options screen.
Before you start#
You need a client instance with one of these loaders. Settings Saver is client-only: on a dedicated
server it loads, logs Dedicated server detected; nothing to do. and does nothing else, so there is
no reason to install it there. It has no dependencies: one jar is all you need.
Pick the jar#
One jar covers a whole loader family, so you never need a different jar per Minecraft version.
| Jar | Loader | Minecraft |
|---|---|---|
settingssaver-<version>-fabric.jar |
Fabric, Quilt | 1.14 to 26.3 |
settingssaver-<version>-legacyfabric.jar |
Legacy Fabric | 1.7.10 to 1.13.2 |
settingssaver-<version>-forge-1.7.10.jar |
Forge | 1.7.10 |
settingssaver-<version>-forge-1.8-1.12.2.jar |
Forge | 1.8 to 1.12.2 |
settingssaver-<version>-modlauncher.jar |
Forge | 1.13.2 to 26.3 |
settingssaver-<version>-modlauncher.jar |
NeoForge | 1.20.1 to 26.3 |
Fabric, Quilt
Use the fabric jar on Minecraft 1.14 and newer, Fabric snapshots included. Quilt loads it as is.
Fabric Loader 0.12 or newer is required.
Legacy Fabric
Use the legacyfabric jar on Minecraft 1.7.10 to 1.13.2.
Forge
Forge has three jars, one per era:
- 1.7.10: the
forge-1.7.10jar. - 1.8 to 1.12.2: the
forge-1.8-1.12.2jar. - 1.13.2 to 26.3: the
modlauncherjar.
NeoForge
Use the modlauncher jar on every NeoForge version, 1.20.1 to 26.3. It is the same jar as Forge
1.13.2+ uses.
Steps#
- Put the Settings Saver jar in the instance's
modsfolder. - Start the game.
- Open Options. A Settings Saver... button is at the bottom of the screen.
- Click it. The Settings Saver menu opens, showing Profile: default and Sync: Off.
You can also open the menu from the mod list: the Config button of Settings Saver in Mod Menu (Fabric and Quilt) or in Forge's and NeoForge's own mod list. Forge 1.13.2's mod list never enables that button, so use the Options screen there.
On its first launch Settings Saver creates its store and the instance's
config file. Nothing in the instance is changed yet: the default profile
stays empty until you save to it. Continue with Saving and loading.
