settings-saver.properties at the top of the store holds the settings shared by every instance. It is not inside any game folder. Settings Saver creates it with the defaults the first time it runs, and reads it at every launch: edit it with the games closed.

Options#

Option Default Meaning
backups 5 How many backups of replaced options.txt files to keep, in total across all instances. 0 turns backups off.
defaultProfile default The profile used by instances whose instance config doesn't name one. If the profile doesn't exist, those instances use default.

A backups value that is not a whole number, or a defaultProfile name with .., / or \ in it, is replaced by its default with a warning in the game log. Unknown keys are ignored with a warning.

Example#

# Settings Saver configuration (shared by all instances).
# Which profile an instance uses, and whether it syncs, is set per instance in <instance>/config/settings-saver.properties

# How many backups of overwritten instance files to keep
backups=10

# Profile used by instances that don't name one
defaultProfile=default
