> The options in a profile's profile.properties: its excluded settings per settings file, its display name and when it was created.

| Field | Value |
| --- | --- |
| File | `profiles/default/profile.properties` |

Each profile is a folder in `profiles/` inside the [store](https://xichil.dev/wiki/settings-saver/v0/guides/store-location/index.md), and its
`profile.properties` holds the profile's own settings. Settings Saver creates it with the profile.
The **Excluded settings** screen edits it for you and rewrites the whole file when you change
something, so comments you add by hand are not kept.

## Options

| Option | Default | Meaning |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `exclude.vanilla` | the [default exclusions](https://xichil.dev/wiki/settings-saver/v0/guides/excluded-settings/index.md) | Keys of `options.txt` that are never saved or loaded, separated by commas. A key ending in `*` matches every key starting with the text before it. |
| `displayName` | the folder name | The profile's name as recorded in the file. The menus show the folder name. |
| `created` | the creation time | When the profile was created, written by Settings Saver. |

`exclude.vanilla` set to an empty value (`exclude.vanilla=`) means nothing is excluded. Removing the
line brings back the default exclusions.

The `version` line of `options.txt` is always handled by Settings Saver and can't be included.

## Example

```properties
# Settings Saver profile.
displayName=pvp
created=2026-11-05T20:42:33.117Z
# Keys never synced, per settings file. Comma-separated; a trailing * matches a prefix (e.g. key_* for all keybinds)
exclude.vanilla=resourcePacks,incompatibleResourcePacks,lastServer,soundDevice,fullscreenResolution,key_*
```

## The saved settings

Next to `profile.properties`, `vanilla/options.txt` holds the profile's saved settings in the
newest format Settings Saver knows (see
[Converting between versions](https://xichil.dev/wiki/settings-saver/v0/mechanics/version-conversion/index.md)). It is a normal `options.txt`
with one `key:value` per line. You can edit it with every game closed, but the menu's Save and Load
are the safer way.
